World’s Fastest Motorcycles
It is a dream of practically every single boy in the world to one day own a super-bike; they are undoubtedly one of the coolest forms of transportation around, and what’s more, their appeal is made all the better by the fact that owning a motorcycle is a relatively attainable goal for nearly everybody. The fact that motorcycles are so inexpensive is one of the reasons that has helped them to become on of the most widely-owned motor vehicles on the entire planet.
Although owning a motorcycle is within almost everybody’s reach, there are still a few things – such as riding one of the world’s fastest motorcycles – that mere mortals can only dream of. This is one of the most commonly asked questions amongst motorcycle fans throughout the world: which are the fastest motorcycles on the planet at the moment? This is a a fantastic question, as it invokes a debate that most bikers cannot answer. Why can’t they answer it? Well, due to the simple fact that most motorcycle owners cannot begin to approach the same kinds of speeds that true super-bikes do (after-all, it is terrifying enough to try and push a regular street motorcycle to anywhere near 100mph!). The other reason why this is such a superb question is due to the fact that there is great deal of debate on what ‘fastest’ actually means; some motorcycles have excelled in conditions where others have not, sparking claims that certain records do not hold up, which in turn spark counter-claims and so on. Although there is fierce debate surrounding the subject, below are undeniably some of the quickest motorcycles that one could hope to encounter:
- 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1 – This motorcycle has consistently reached a top speeds of no less than 186mph; it is one of the most reliable (not to mention popular) speed bikes that a person can currently get their hands on. Japanese manufacturers Yamaha have once again proved that they are undisputed masters of creating world class performance vehicles.
- Suzuki GSX 1300 R Hayabusa – This fantastic machine is tied for with the Yamaha YZF-R1 in terms of it’s top recorded speed. This motorcycle has a 1300 engine that is about the same size as you would expect to find in a powerful car; it’s no wonder that it can easily reach 186mph.
- Kawasaki ZX-12R Ninja – This motorcycle is legendary among and for a very long time it held the undisputed title of ‘King of the Road’; this motorcycle has been recorded reaching track speeds of a staggering 189mph.
- MV Agusta F4 1100CC – This nippy little sports bike from Italian manufacturer MV Agusta can accelerate from 0-60mph in a ludicrous 3 seconds flat; as if that weren’t enough, it is also capable of reaching speeds of up to 196mph when it’s taken to the track.
- Ducati Desmosedici RR – Last but by no means least is Ducati’s offering. This Italian super-bike has become infamous the world over thanks to popular movie (based on the video game) Tomb Raider. It has recorded track speeds of 199mph, making it one of the most terrifying two-wheeled rides that you could hope to encounter…
